EnterActive exists as a coffeehouse ministry/outreach of Yucaipa Christian Church to the local GenX/Postmodern generation or simply put – the 18-30 crowd with the life changing message of the gospel of Jesus Christ and an answer to the modern philosophy of situational ethics. Its worship style and communication approach is designed to draw in those who may not normally be attracted to a more traditional church setting. This service takes advantage of a very casual environment to appeal to young people and their families. Those attending sit in groups of six around small tables during the worship service with food and beverages available along with free coffee each week (donations are accepted for coffee and food can be purchased for a small donation.)
It is understood that while this ministry is targeted at the decade between ages 20 and 30, the ripple effect hoped for would reach younger and older ages that are peripheral to this cross section
EnterActive is designed to be a somewhat minimalist service in that we do not have special music (if there is singing we do it together in worship), long transitions or offertories, and an abbreviated time of announcements (announcements can also be seen on screen at end of service). This is to allow more time for joint worship. Music style is designed to reach the target ages mentioned above.
Audience participation takes place periodically during the sermon through use of different discussion methods. Our hope is to bring a more interactive communication style that will reach shorter attention spans in a media oriented culture.
EnterActive attempts to reach out to a bit of a niche market (just as a high school group would attempt to reach out to high schoolers.) and is designed therefore to run differently than a general purpose worship service. It is simply another arm by which Yucaipa Christian Church can reach out to the community as well as build up believers. The part is meant to compliment the whole of Y.C.C.’s ministry. Young people and adults work together each week to make EnterActive a reality. Come and check it out. As the Bible says, “taste and see”.
