No matter how good a life we try to live, we still fall miserably short of being a good person. That is because we are all sinners. We all fall short of God’s desire for us to be holy. The Bible says, "For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard" (Romans 3:23 NLT).
The problem with sin is that it brings a heavy price. The price we pay for our sin is death. The Bible tells us that "When Adam sinned, sin entered the human race. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned: (Romans 5:12). The Bible goes on to tell us that "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23)
Here's the Good News! Jesus stepped in and took our place. "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners" (Romans 5:8). God sent Jesus Christ to die for us, not because we were good enough, but because he loved us.
Have you ever wondered how you can accept this amazing gift of grace? The Bible couldn't be more clear about it. "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved...Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:9-10,13).
The act of being immersed in Christian baptism shows our loyalty and obedience to Jesus and His Word. "And how can we be sure that we belong to him? By obeying his commandments" (1 John 2:3 NLT). Baptism is a picture of Christ's death, burial, & resurrection. When we are baptized we identify ourselves as a follower of Jesus.
Many people have come to Christ, had their sins forgiven, invited Him into their life, by saying a prayer similar to this one:
God, forgive me for all my sins and come into my heart and life. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God...and God, I believe that when Jesus died on the cross, He paid for my sins. I also believe He rose from the dead. Thank you for forgiving me for all that I have done and will ever do that is displeasing to you. Thank you for coming into my life and making me new. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
